RE: keystone electrical issues

We have the same unit and love it. The 30 amp is the standard thing in most rv's and thats the way it is. Had a problem last year when the ac was on. I do like to run all frig and WH on electric with using the camp grounds power as you are paying for it!!!! Camping in the northern states is not as hot as other parts of the country so ac is not always needed. As others have indicated, run another extention cord from the 120 v outlet from the supply box through the seal of one of your slids for toaster or hair dryers and this helps. I do this for electric heater in the rear bedroom. good luck.

RE: Mackinaw City, MI campground suggestions

Bill, if one wants full hook up for two nights, I think that's what the stay suggested then they can make their own choice. I am just saying for a couple of nights I think the state park is much more Michigan. Mill creek when we were there 2 yrs ago was jammed with traffic, The full hook up sites were so close we could not even open our awning. We have slides only on one side as well. We feel it was just a commercial campground with only a view of the bridge. No beach to talk about unless you like rocks!!!!

RE: 30 amp park power conversion kit

Ok. I have heard the pros and cons of power conversion kit. So maybe the best thing is to just leave it coiled up in the box and plug another cord into the end of the coiled up cord. Thats alot of extra electrical cord not necessary......

30 amp park power conversion kit

I am thinking of removing my existing hard wire power cord and installing a conversion kit sold at camping world. Has anyone installed this type of unit and how did it go. I am also wondering what the electric box shown in the picture on line is for. Thanks for all the help....

RE: Gas Prices Got You Down?

We will cut back this year. Short trips around 100 mile from home. The UP of Michigan would be wonderful but I will not pay for their gas prices. If everyone would stop using their gas we might make a point but we are free here to do what we want. $4/gallon is insane amount to pay!!!!!

RE: How often do you do it?

Like Lil Darlin from Michigan says. We folks up here in Michigan have trouble preparing in the cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We usually do April through October and maybe a November if it is reasonably fair weather but that's a long shot!!!!!!!!! 2 times / month and a couple longer trips like a week during that time. Most trips are the long weekend ones. Wife works some Saturdays so I might head out with a kid or two, depends.

RE: Camping in the driveway

My boy and I sleep in the rig periodically during the camping season when we are not away camping. Th 5th is in the yard and we see it all the time. We might spen a few more night this year though. The DW will not stoop that low as she indicates..... She thinks we are nuts!!!!!!!

RE: Diesel Vs Gas -Ford milage- - UPDATED

I have been reading all these issues with diesel and gas engine trucks for towing purposes and it has been good discussions!!!! I have been wondering if I should move to a diesel truck versus the 02 Chevy 8.1 L gas engine I have now. Pulling a 35' medium profile 5th with a weight of app 9200 LB I do loose power up hills and wish I might have a diesel. I'll keep my gasser 8.1 L chevy for now. Thanks for helping make my decision clear.

RE: Open Range 5'er vs. Monte Vista

The wife and I like the rear living room model. We saw it at the Novi rv show earlier this month. The one thing I noticed and is odd that there is no ladder on thwe rear or even an option for one. Maybe the roof is not designed for human load!!!!!

RE: macnaw city mi campgrounds

We stayed at Macinaw 2 years ago and could not wait to leave . Very tight sights and very busy place. We could not even open our awning!!!!! And the fire pits were tin lids about 18" diam. with the camp sight behind us just feet from our rig. But the view over the water was nice . No swimming beach either. A very rocky shore line.
